Greg Prichard writes: The Storm have the minor premiership wrapped up. They have lost Adam Blair to suspension, but have Cooper Cronk back. The Roosters have come up with a good spell of form recently and will be highly motivated to cap it off by knocking over the competition favourites.

AAP writes: After last week's loss to the Sea Eagles, Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy will be ramming home to his players the importance of going into the finals with a win. Following the week of drama and disappointment they've had, it's hard to see the Storm not coming out full of fire. Having said that, the Roosters are in pretty good form and they've got nothing to lose in their final match as they continue their mission to restore credibility. Cooper Cronk is set to return for the Storm, however their forward pack will be left thin without Adam Blair and Sika Manu.

Key: The Roosters aren't without hope, but Bellamy and the Storm are too professional. This match is important for team psyche and they'll be hungry.

ROOSTERS: Anthony Minichiello, Sam Perrett, Justin Carney, Joseph Leilua, Phil Graham, Braith Anasta (capt), Mitchell Pearce, Jason Ryles, Jake Friend, Lama Tasi, Boyd Cordner, Aidan Guerra, Frank-Paul Nuuausala. Interchange: Anthony Mitchell, Mose Masoe, Brad Takairangi, Tinirau Arona, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (one to be omitted).

STORM: Billy Slater, Matthew Duffie, Dane Nielsen, Beau Champion, Anthony Quinn, Gareth Widdop, Cooper Cronk, Jesse Bromwich, Cameron Smith (capt), Bryan Norrie, Kevin Proctor, Ryan Hinchcliffe, Todd Lowrie. Interchange: Rory Kostjasyn, Atelea Vea, Adam Woolnough, Jaiman Lowe.

TAB Sportsbet: Broncos $1.22 Sea Eagles $4.25
FootyTab: Sea Eagles +8.5
========♥!♥========

Greg Prichard writes: The Broncos will finish third, but it is Darren Lockyer’s home farewell, so they will fire up. They know they need to be better than they were in beating Souths. The Sea Eagles have been knocked by fallout from the Storm brawl.

AAP writes: Darren Lockyer's farewell tour picks up a level this week in his official farewell to Broncos fans at Suncorp Stadium. While he'll be there a week later for the first final, this is being billed as the legendary five-eighth's chance to say goodbye and thank you. The Broncos will be fired up because of this, and Manly have been decimated by the NRL judiciary. There's a mathematical chance the Broncos can replace the Sea Eagles in second spot with a win. Manly too, could creep past the Storm for the minor premiership if they muster a big win and Melbourne lose to the Roosters.

Key: An interesting scenario, because neither team will want to go off too early with far more important matches to come over the next month. Darren Lockyer is the difference.

BRONCOS: Josh Hoffman, Gerard Beale, Jack Reed, Ben Te'o, Jharal Yow Yeh, Darren Lockyer (capt), Peter Wallace, Josh McGuire, Andrew McCullough, Scott Anderson, Alex Glenn, Sam Thaiday, Corey Parker. Interchange: Matt Gillett, Ben Hunt, Ben Hannant, David Hala.

SEA EAGLES: Will Hopoate, Michael Robertson, Jamie Lyon (capt), Steve Matai, Michael Oldfield, Jamie Buhrer, Daly Cherry-Evans, Joe Galuvao, Matt Ballin, Brent Kite, Anthony Watmough, Shane Rodney, Glenn Stewart. Interchange: Vic Mauro, Daniel Harrison, George Rose, Tony Williams, Terence Seuseu, Tim Robinson (two to be omitted).

Referees: Steve Lyons, Tony De Las Heras
TV: Live, FoxSports 2
TAB Sportsbet: Bulldogs $1.33 Raiders $3.25
FootyTab: Raiders +8.5
========♥!♥========

Greg Prichard writes: The attitude of the Bulldogs could be affected by what happens in the Knights-Rabbitohs game. If that ends in a draw, the Bulldogs will make the finals by winning this. If there is a narrow Rabbitohs’ win, the Bulldogs will make it if they can smash the Raiders by more than 40 points.

AAP writes: At this stage it seems the main story out of this match is whether Canterbury can get a win for captain Andrew Ryan in his final NRL match.

But should the planets collide and the rugby league gods shine on the Bulldogs might still be an outside sniff for eighth spot.  If Souths and Newcastle draw on Friday night the 'Dogs can get into the eight with a win over the battling Raiders. Or if the Rabbitohs sneak home by one point, Canterbury can sneak in on for and against with a 40-plus victory over Canberra. If the Knights beat Souths however, the task will be impossible.

Key: Canterbury have been very good over recent weeks and they've got too many points in them for the Raiders who have basically come to a grinding holt.

BULLDOGS: Ben Barba, Steve Turner, Josh Morris, Jamal Idris, Jonathan Wright, Joel Romelo, Trent Hodkinson, Aiden Tolman, Josh Reynolds, Sam Kasiano, Frank Pritchard, Andrew Ryan (capt), David Stagg. Interchange: Michael Hodgson, Mickey Paea, Gary Warburton, Kris Keating.

RAIDERS: Josh Dugan, Blake Ferguson, Jarrod Croker, Danny Galea, Reece Robinson, Josh McCrone, Sam Williams, Brett White, Alan Tongue (capt), David Shillington, Josh Papalii, Bronson Harrison, Shaun Fensom. Interchange: Michael Picker, Joe Picker, Sam Mataora, Dane Tilse, Jarrad Kennedy (one to be omitted).

FootyTab: Eels +1.5

Greg Prichard writes: The battle to avoid the wooden spoon. The Eels have become champions at finding ways to lose, but they have been in positions to beat much better teams than the Titans recently. And the Titans are on a short turnaround after looking ordinary against the Tigers.

AAP writes: This is the ultimate battle for pride, and Gold Coast and Parramatta will put everything into this match. Finishing second last doesn't make for a good season, but avoiding the wooden spoon means plenty.

While Canberra are still a loose chance to pick up the unwanted utensil, in all probability it comes down to the Titans and Eels Both teams have had long seasons.  The question is can Parramatta pick themselves up after yet another heartbreaking golden point loss?

Key: Preston Campbell's farewell match from the NRL might be just enough for the Titans at home.

TITANS: Jordan Rankin, Steve Michaels, Esi Tonga, Clinton Toopi, David Mead, William Zillman, Preston Campbell (capt), Luke Bailey, Matt Srama, Matthew White, Anthony Laffranchi, Mark Minichiello, Greg Bird. Interchange: Brenton Lawrence, Will Matthews, Bodene Thompson, Luke O'Dwyer.

EELS: Luke Burt, Ryan Morgan, Justin Horo, Ben Smith, Chris Hicks, Jarryd Hayne, Casey McGuire, Tim Mannah, Matt Keating, Fuifui Moimoi, Nathan Hindmarsh (capt), Taniela Lasalo, Reni Maitua. Interchange: Shane Shackleton, Mitchell Allgood, Pat O'Hanlon, Justin Poore.

Referees: Ben Cummins, Gerard Sutton
TV: Live, FoxSports 2
TAB Sportsbet: Sharks $4.25 Tigers $1.22
FootyTab: Sharks +14.5
========♥!♥========

Greg Prichard writes: The Sharks faded out of the finals race a while ago, but they can have a big say in how the final eight is shaped by winning here. The Tigers could finish as low as seventh if they lose, and must be on their mettle from the start. The Sharks could rev up for a big effort to finish the season, and if they get a sniff the Tigers could face a battle.

AAP writes: The Sharks are in for a long night if Benji Marshall maintains his untouchable form of recent weeks. His pass selection and running game is bamboozling defences and with a top-four finish within reach, he's not likely to let up.

If the Tigers win they're virtually guaranteed fourth spot, and anything is possible from there. The Tigers have had momentary slumps at the start of the second half in their past two games against Parramatta and Gold Coast, so the Sharks should get a look in at some stage in the match.

But scoring points is still Cronulla's achilles heel, and it's difficult to see them making much of an impression on Tim Sheens' peaking team.

Key: The Tigers are on fire and there's too much at stake for them to come undone here.

SHARKS: Isaac Gordon, Stewart Mills, Dean Collis, Colin Best, John Williams, Albert Kelly, Wade Graham, Kade Snowden, John Morris, Luke Douglas, Jeremy Smith, Anthony Tupou, Paul Gallen (capt). Interchange: Sam Tagataese, Taulima Tautai, Paul Aiton, Josh Cordoba, Ben Pomeroy (one to be omitted).

TIGERS: Tim Moltzen, Beau Ryan, Blake Ayshford, Matt Utai, Lote Tuqiri, Benji Marshall, Rob Lui, Bryce Gibbs, Robbie Farah (capt), Keith Galloway, Liam Fulton, Gareth Ellis, Chris Heighington. Interchange: Mitch Brown, Mark Flanagan, Matt Groat, Aaron Woods, Ben Murdoch-Masila (one to be omitted).

TAB Sportsbet: Warriors $1.45 Cowboys $2.75
FootyTab: Cowboys +6.5
========♥!♥========

Greg Prichard writes: Huge game, as the result affects where both teams finish. The Cowboys could finish fourth or as low as seventh, it’s the same for the Warriors. The Cowboys were flat out beating the Sharks last time. The Warriors are in good form.

AAP writes: Massive match for both sides, as they strive to finish as high up the ladder as possible. With the loser likely to face Manly in a tough elimination semi in Sydney, the victor could find themselves in a juicy first-up meeting with Brisbane. While a trip to Suncorp wouldn't be easy, the Cowboys and Warriors both match up well with the Broncos and would fancy their chances of springing a surprise.

The Warriors can't afford to be deterred by their last-start loss to the Dragons, and must continue to trust what's worked for them.

North Queensland haven't exactly clicked in recent weeks, but with Johnathan Thurston and Matt Bowen in their side, they're capable of breaking apart any game.

Key: If Warriors play physical they should have too much power over 80 minutes for the Cowboys, and the likes of James Maloney and Kevin Locke will find openings.

WARRIORS: Kevin Locke, Bill Tupou, Joel Moon, Shaun Berrigan, Krisnan Inu, James Maloney, Shaun Johnson, Sam Rapira, Alehana Mara, Jacob Lillyman, Feleti Mateo, Simon Mannering (capt), Micheal Luck. Interchange: Lance Hohaia, Russell Packer, Ben Matulino, Ukuma Ta'ai, Lewis Brown (one to be omitted).

TV: Channel Nine – Live 7.30pm (NSW & Qld)
TAB Sportsbet: Knights $1.85 Souths $1.95
FootyTab: Knights +2.5
========♥!♥========

Greg Prichard writes: The finals start early for these two. The Knights are eighth and the Rabbitohs ninth, both on 26 points, so the winner makes the play-offs. The Knights will be honouring former players, but the Rabbitohs won’t care about that.

AAP writes: This match has more riding on it than any regular season match this year, as the two teams engage in a virtual playoff for eighth spot in the finals. A draw would open the door for Canterbury, but in likelihood, it's winner takes all. The Knights have an exceptional record in their last home match of the season - where players tend to lift in the presence of former players on the club's 'Old Boys Day'.

But while the Knights hold an edge with home crowd advantage and off-field inspiration, South Sydney are in far superior form.

Despite the blows of losing to Brisbane last week, and more importantly losing Greg Inglis for the rest of the season, you get the feeling the Rabbitohs are the team playing with all the confidence.

The Bunnies get back Nathan Merritt and John Sutton and they'll play with no fear.

Key: Newcastle have been awful in the second halves of recent matches and if they drop off in intensity, the Rabbitohs have the strike power to pile on the points.

KNIGHTS: Kurt Gidley (capt), James McManus, Siuatonga Likiliki, Adam MacDougall, Akuila Uate, Ryan Stig, Jarrod Mullen, Evarn Tuimavave, Isaac De Gois, Antonio Kaufusi, Chris Houston, Neville Costigan, Joel Edwards. Interchange: Matt Hilder, Cameron Ciraldo, Richard Fa'aoso, Mark Taufua, Zane Tetavano (one to be omitted).

RABBITOHS: Nathan Merritt, Dylan Farrell, Shaune Corrigan, Chris McQueen, Fetuli Talanoa, John Sutton, Chris Sandow, Ben Ross, Issac Luke, Shannan McPherson, Eddy Pettybourne, David Taylor, Michael Crocker (capt). Greg Prichard writes: Critical game for the Dragons. They are sixth, but could finish as high as fourth. A loss and they could drop to seventh and be playing sudden-death in the first final. The Dragons showed glimpses of their best in a win over the Warriors last week. They should be too strong.

AAP writes: St George Illawarra got the monkey off their back last week against the Warriors, but must keep the roll going against the Panthers. If weekend results go as expected it won't be enough to earn them a home final, but it could be enough to guarantee they play their qualifying final in Sydney against Wests Tigers - with plenty of red and white in the crowd.

Confidence is the big thing for the Dragons, if they can get a further boost before the finals start, then the defending premiers are capable of beating all of the big guns.

Penrith will throw the ball around, but there should be plenty of chances for the Dragons to perfect their execution in attack.

Key: St George Illawarra's lethal left-edge was back on song against the Warriors, and Jamie Soward and Darius Boyd started to get their timing back. This is an ominous sign for the Panthers.

DRAGONS: Darius Boyd, Brett Morris, Mark Gasnier, Matt Cooper, Jason Nightingale, Jamie Soward, Ben Hornby (capt), Dan Hunt, Dean Young, Michael Weyman, Beau Scott, Ben Creagh, Matt Prior. Interchange: Jon Green, Nathan Fien, Adam Cuthbertson, Trent Merrin, Mitch Rein (one to be omitted).

Ospreys have won just two of their last nine clashes with Leinster, whilst overall the Irishmen have the best record for any visiting side to Liberty Stadium, having handed Ospreys a quarter of their 12 losses at the venue in the competition.

The 2009/10 finalists meet in the opening round of RaboDirect PRO12. Ospreys have begun the season at home on four previous occasions and won them all. Ospreys were semi-finalists in 2010/11 despite winning just one of their last six matches: 12-10 at Aironi in round 22. The Welshmen are winless in their last two matches at Liberty Stadium but have never gone three home games in this tournament without victory.

Leinster's previous form on the opening round of a new season has seen them gain just one victory since 2002: 23-8 at home to Edinburgh in 2007. The reigning European champions lost last season's final to Munster, but won six of their last seven regular season encounters.
