Greg Prichard writes: The finals start early for these two. The Knights are eighth and the Rabbitohs ninth, both on 26 points, so the winner makes the play-offs. The Knights will be honouring former players, but the Rabbitohs won’t care about that.

AAP writes: This match has more riding on it than any regular season match this year, as the two teams engage in a virtual playoff for eighth spot in the finals. A draw would open the door for Canterbury, but in likelihood, it's winner takes all. The Knights have an exceptional record in their last home match of the season - where players tend to lift in the presence of former players on the club's 'Old Boys Day'.

But while the Knights hold an edge with home crowd advantage and off-field inspiration, South Sydney are in far superior form.

Despite the blows of losing to Brisbane last week, and more importantly losing Greg Inglis for the rest of the season, you get the feeling the Rabbitohs are the team playing with all the confidence.

The Bunnies get back Nathan Merritt and John Sutton and they'll play with no fear.

Key: Newcastle have been awful in the second halves of recent matches and if they drop off in intensity, the Rabbitohs have the strike power to pile on the points.
